Why we care and why you should, too
Business runs at the speed of trust. Trust is the bottleneck to the core aims of collaboration, innovation, and growth that make any enterprise succeed. At DevRev, we are laser focused on some of the biggest challenges in enterprise AI - how to leverage AI to drive results, how humans will interact with machines to be more productive, and how AI will foster collaboration across large organizations. As AI becomes more integrated into our day-to-day lives, the line is blurring between human-generated and AI-assisted content. This creates fertile ground for misinformation, scams, and erosion of trust. The clearest such example is the plethora of AI-generated images flooding social media feeds. While AI-savvy consumers are able to spot telltale signs of AI-doctoring, such skill requires attention, media literacy, and a healthy dose of skepticism. Moreover, the current pace of technological advancement suggests that it’s only a matter of time until AI-generated and human-generated content becomes consistently indistinguishable.
Sound business decisions require reliable algorithms
While photorealistic images of outlandish scenes on social media are mostly harmless and used for entertainment, AI-generated content that informs action requires a higher level of scrutiny. Decisions based on incomplete or inaccurate data can lead to wasted time, financial losses, and legal troubles. After all, the individual making the decision will be held accountable, not the algorithm. In the absence of AI explainability – which has proven to be an extremely challenging problem to make traction on – all you have left is trust.
There are no shortcuts to trust; the only way to get there is to deliver consistency over time. This means that the entire organization must uphold the promise of trust – it cannot be relegated to a department or a software layer. AI companies looking to win with enterprise customers must take trust, safety, and security seriously from day one.
